This was my third year assignment for advance modeling as a student from Staffordshire University. The goal was to create an environmental piece with inspiration from the "Witcher" series. After modeling my scene I set it up in Unreal Engine 4 to make use of its post processing and particle effects to draw the viewer into a more believable, mystical world.
My process behind this was first with gathering references. Once this was done I would move to 3DS and start getting a basic block out done. After I am happy with the results I would begin modeling additional detail to create more detailed forms and later on move to Zbrush to sculpt any detail I would initially be unable to do via 3DS. From here its about baking my maps in xNormal and texturing in Substance, importing it all into UE4.
Overall, I am happy with the results but there is always room for improvement. When I have time I will definitely revisit this piece and fix up certain areas such as the thatch roofing.
